Peter Begin

Peter Begin is the President of The Alternative Board – Hartford. Since its founding in 2005, TAB-Hartford has helped scores of highly successful entrepreneurs and leaders of privately-held businesses exceed their personal and business goals using the TAB system of peer advisory boards and one-on-one coaching. Peter has assembled a team of highly qualified and experienced business coaches who share a singular vision – To help each and every TAB member clearly articulate and achieve their own personal definition of success.

“Business owners come to us for lots of different reasons – some are looking to grow their business, some want to get their life under control, and others are looking for a forum where they can let their hair down and talk with people who truly understand what it means to run a business. Whatever the driver is for them joining TAB, we have the tools and the skill sets to help them get to where they want to go.”

Prior to TAB, Peter was the CFO for the Life Insurance Division of Lincoln Financial, held financial executive positions with Aetna and earned his CPA with Coopers & Lybrand.
Peter, a Hartford native, received his BS in Accounting from the UCONN. He has served as an adjunct professor of finance at UCONN and is currently serving on TAB’s Franchise Advisory Board.

He and his wife Susan resides in West Hartford. They love spending time their daughter and new grandson in Boston and son in San Diego.

Michael Fromson

Michael Fromson is an accomplished executive with experience in operations, finance and administration. He has a record of significant achievement in manufacturing and new product introduction which resulted in increased productivity, improved quality and reduced costs.

What attracted Michael to join the TAB Greater Hartford team in 2014 is the opportunity to leverage his experience and expertise to assist private companies with limited resources in reaching their strategic goals in a focused and timely manner.

Prior to TAB, Michael was Vice President of Finance and later Vice President of Operations at Anocoil Corporation where he supported the tripling of sales from $10 million to over $30 million.

Michael received his BA in Psychology from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard University.

Michael and Donna live in Glastonbury. They enjoy their family, four children, and traveling. Michael is an avid UCONN basketball and Yankees fan.

Chris Skelly

Christine Skelly
Chris is an experienced business leader with proven ability in growing revenue, reducing cost
and improving bottom line results. She has had success in both turnaround and growth
environments and has over 25 years of experience in the financial services and insurance
industries. Most recently at Aetna, she led the $1 billion Group Life insurance business, was
CFO and Chief Underwriter for National Accounts and started a new business serving the
financial needs of health care consumers. She also held positions at United Healthcare,
Travelers and Coopers & Lybrand and has a degree in accounting from UConn.
Since leaving Aetna, she has focused on serving not for profits and enjoys using her business
experiences to help others achieve their goals. She is currently a board member of Wheeler
Clinic and BikeWalkCT and a SCORE volunteer where she is a certified mentor of small
businesses.
Chris is an avid cyclist and lives in West Hartford with her husband, Ross. They have three
children­ Kristen, Erin and Brian.

Michael Ferris

Michael Ferris is an experienced business executive with a track record of success in both Fortune 500 companies as well as in running a rapidly growing small business.

After 30 years working for large international corporations, Michael joined a small local landscape company in 2006 with the objective of dramatically expanding the business while creating the business infrastructure necessary for continued growth and long term success. That objective was realized as the company grew 3-fold over a six year period while maintaining a reputation for outstanding quality and unparalleled client service. Today The Yard Group is one of the largest and most well respected Connecticut owned and operated full service landscape companies in the state.

Prior to The Yard Group, Michael held a variety of senior level positions in the insurance and managed care industry – CIGNA, Travelers and United Healthcare. His responsibilities ranged from CFO of Travelers Managed Care Division to Chief Underwriter at United Healthcare to President of a business unit at CIGNA focused on the healthcare needs of the Medicare population.

He received his BA from Boston College with a degree in Psychology and an MBA from Babson College with a concentration in Accounting. He started his career at KPMG and practiced as a CPA early in his career.

Michael and his wife, Anne, have lived in Glastonbury, Ct for 35 years where they raised their 3 sons – Peter, Jonathan and Daniel. Michael’s free time is spent enjoying his growing number of grandchildren and following his beloved Red Sox.
